Kelly and Nick, we freaking ADORE you!! Here’s a little background on our relationship with these adorable lovebirds: Over the last four years they have invited us to hang out and capture their love story and well, it’s been the best thing ever! From the day we shot their engagement session to their COVID elopement in the Colorado mountains, we knew these two were something special. We were invited to capture moments of their big wedding that they held once COVID restrictions cleared up and now we have met up yet again for an Oregon Coast couples session. If you ask me I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a two-year anniversary!!
Can you tell from the smiles in these photos that whenever we get together with Kelly and Nick we have SO. MUCH. FUN?! It’s always a magical moment when Steven and I instantly click with one of our couples. Luckily over the last four years, even though we only see them once a year, the relationship just keeps getting better! You know the friendship is good when you have an inside joke… right? But, since I can’t help myself I’m going to let you in on this one. Every time we say goodbye we love to joke around and say “see you next year!” So far, we have a SOLID track record. Creating relationships like this with our couples and clients is always so meaningful. It’s also an important part of the core of our business. We know how intimate these moments can be, so having the opportunity to photograph a couple at a special time in their lives means the world to us. It’s even more amazing when you experience love stories from the start and witness that love first-hand as it grows stronger and stronger every year!
For their adventure session, Kelly and Nick were ready to go! They chose an iconic spot on the Pacific Coast of Oregon, Samuel H. Boardman. We hiked the mountains of Colorado for their elopement so we knew they’d be down for this trek! It’s a bit of an intimidating hike because of how steep it was, but Kelly and Nick beat Steven and I up the trail (just like they did during their elopement… but shhh, we’re still trying to convince them we let them win)! We stopped by the natural bridge for a few portraits before heading to a nearby beach for sunset.
If you didn’t know, sea stacks are my FAVEEEE. I love them so much, especially out here in Oregon. They are incredible and work so beautifully with the sunlight as it sets – isn’t it amazing how nature can create such beauty?! And I mean, come on these birds HAD to be paid actors! We had the best time running around in the golden light with Kelly and Nick. This shoot brought a few challenges, like the crazy wind, but overall it was seriously epic. I don’t think I’ll ever get over how gorgeous the drone shots we got are (scroll to the end to see!). Like, can I just teleport back into this moment in time forever?! I guess that’s the awesome thing about photos though, they allow you to transport back to a certain moment that has been frozen and captured in allll its beauty.
WOW what a session. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of taking trips out to the Pacific Coast. It is one of, if not my absolute favorite places in the US. I hope we have the opportunity to do sessions here every single summer because anytime I return I fall even more in love!
So…Kelly and Nick, we’ll see you next year?!
