Has anyone invented a time machine yet? Because I’m dying to travel back in time and re-live Julia and Jake’s luxurious, romantic, and memorable wedding in Ireland. This destination wedding must be one of our all-time favorite places we’ve photographed to date. From hosting their wedding in a real CASTLE (!!!!) to recreating a sweet family photo, Julia and Jake’s wedding in Ireland earned its spot right in the center of our hearts.
Sooo, I’ll try not to freak out over this castle, but it was insane!!! A real castle in Ireland. I was pinching myself every minute because how is this real life?! Julia and Jake chose Luttrellstown Castle for their wedding venue, and it was absolutely stunning. The Gothic-style architecture brought in an elegant moodiness, while the lush landscape of the 500+ acre property felt light and airy.
This castle is home to many weddings, and we were so lucky that these two wanted us to be the ones there to capture the day! I could have spent hours exploring the castle and capturing photos of every detail, but we had some work to do! The festivities started inside the castle, where guests entered a moody gothic-inspired window for the ceremony. A grand crystal chandelier was framed by a stunning window that lit up the front of the room where our couple said I do. I love that they selected this as their ceremony location; it brought in the historic castle vibe and uniquely illuminated the bride and groom as they said their vows and committed to one another in front of their loved ones.
After the ceremony, we ran outside the castle like little kids. There were SO many cool photo spots, and we wanted to make the most of our time! After capturing some iconic bridal portraits, it was time to return to another room for their dinner reception. With vintage silver candelabras, giant crystal chandeliers, incredible gothic architecture and crown molding, their reception hall felt like we were transported back in time to dine with the best of the best. To lean into the luxurious vibe brought to us by the castle, Julia and Jake asked their guests to attend in black-tie attire and they carried a black-tie theme through the entire event design. I loveeeed this. Everyone felt and looked like true Kings and Queens!
The newlyweds were intentional with every detail of their wedding day. My favorite nod to the Irish culture they incorporated was the late-night fish and chips–it was delicious and sooo on brand for Ireland. When thinking about this castle and the wonderful wedding Julia and Jake threw here, I can’t help but fantasize about the library. It was everything! But my favorite detail was how the sky showed off with the perfect rainbow over the castle, like, are you kidding me?
These two sweethearts were dream clients for us as photographers. They were so kind and gave us creative freedom with everything! It was so much fun for us to work with them in a setting as beautiful as Ireland, and having the creative freedom to play around with unique styles and poses made it even better. When our couples trust us, it makes their images and video a million times better! I personally think that this is one of our best galleries to date and some of our best work for SURE.
These two focused on their love for one another on their wedding date and emphasized the faith that they shared. Their favorite people were flying across the world to celebrate their love, and it was clear that their friends and family loved them BIG TIME. I don’t know about you, but when someone is willing to fly across the world for you, that’s some REAL love! Loved ones played a significant role in Julia and Jake’s wedding day. My personal favorite thing was when we re-created Julia’s parent’s wedding photo. The cigar photo of the bride with the guys was a recreation of the one her parents took when they got married –it’s so adorable and fun to see them side by side!
To make their wedding feel intimate and special, Julia and Jake saved their custom vows to share after the ceremony with just each other. This is becoming a very popular trend, and I love it! It lets couples take a breather after saying I do to solidify their love and passion for one another privately.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it a million times over, we have the BEST job in the world. And if you don’t believe me, keep scrolling. I can’t get over how incredible this opportunity was… Traveling to Ireland and celebrating with such a kind and loving couple was a treat. We will be thinking about this destination wedding in Ireland for a LONG time!
