Sometimes being in front of the camera takes some getting used to for my couples. There’s this fear of being “awkward” in front of the lens but the secret is…this is normal!! It’s natural to feel uncomfortable when you’re doing something new. I promise though, it’s not as scary as it seems but I get it! That’s why we make it a priority to get to know our couples on a personal level so they feel relaxed with us as we capture their moments. The more they trust us the more comfortable they’ll feel to be themselves which is ultimately the goal of any session. By the end of this gorgeous desert engagement session with Allison and Hassan, you wouldn’t even believe them if they said they were nervous in front of the camera!
Allison and Hassan were such sweethearts and so dang cute!! Right off the bat, we found a bunch of things to bond over such as our love for tv shows, being homebodies, and staying inside… (for us this was a perk to lockdown haha!) We had so many topics to relate to right away that it was just so easy to jump right in! They trusted me to guide them in different poses and they just were open to having a good time, the laughter kept coming and they had a blast!!
Allison chose such a gorgeous dress for the first section of photos, it was a beautiful flowy free people dress and wow it looked amazingggg in the glowy golden goodness of Arizona at sunset. They selected Usery National Park to be the setting for their desert engagement session and I am so happy they did! this location is one of my absolute favorites, it has so many cacti and a gorgeous mountain range as the backdrop! it really shows the best of both sides of Arizona and has a real authentic feel to it — not to mention the lighting is always perfection!!
Allison and Hassan kept it super casual yet stylish and cute for their engagement session. Allison sported two different dresses (that amazing free people dress I mentioned above) and a lovely cactus-green dress that blended perfectly into the natural environment of Usery National Park. Hassan kept it simple in a white button-down and black pants allowing Allison to really be the star of the show! The best part of their whole look though was 100% their smiles. Seriously, I don’t think the smiles left their faces once we got started!! They really warmed up to the camera and by the end of the shoot, they let their goofy sides show. I seriously just love being able to see couples display their truest form of self during these sessions. I feel so lucky I got to experience an inside peek at their relationship.
While spending time shooting with these two for their session, I was able to learn about their love story — one of the best parts of the job!! They met on mission beach in 2018 and did long-distance until Hassan got a job in Arizona. who says long-distance can’t work?! They now live together with their adorable Irish doodle, clover. we are soooo excited to shoot their wedding next year!
