About six years ago, I saw a photo taken by one of our inspirations and friends, @henrysdiary. It was a couple eloping in Positano, Italy—a place that has always held a special place in my heart. I promised myself that someday I would photograph a love story in this magical corner of the world.
Fast forward a few years and we got a message from them asking us to shoot their non-traditional elopement. They weren’t even engaged yet (!!!), but we got to planning. They said they definitely wanted to go to New York, as it was a special place for them, and they would also love us to capture some of their honeymoon in ITALY, too???!!! We said, “Ummm DUH!!” and started talking about locations. When I suggested Positano, Baylee realized that she had a photo of it as her background on her phone, so we made it official!
We planned every detail for over a year, and it was absolutely unreal. New York was perfect in every way, but when we had our Positano day it felt like an actual dream come true. We for sure thought we would be sick of each other after spending multiple days together but let me tell you that Baylee and Tom are our literal soulmates!!!! We actually just went to Disneyland with them last month!
We all got so close just in those few days in Positano. We climbed a million stairs, ate the best pasta and gelato of our lives, laughed until we cried, and cried until we laughed. We planned to do a sunset boat cruise and when we got on that boat I cried because this was not only a dream for B + T, but it was a dream for us too. The fact that our job took us to a little corner of the earth that feels nostalgic and perfect was overwhelming. I realized the goal that I manifested and worked so hard for years, came to fruition. We all cried and they exchanged love letters with pastel buildings in the back.
We started the day slowly in the cutest little villa, with views that didn’t even look real. Over cappuccinos and pastries on the balcony, Baylee and Tom soaked in the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. They wrote their vows together, savoring the stillness before their adventure began.
The morning was filled with laughter, music, and stolen kisses. They helped each other get dressed—no tradition, just love—and it was the perfect start to their day.
After leaving the villa, we explored the colorful streets, taking photos at every turn. Positano’s charm is unmatched: vibrant tiles, hidden corners, and breathtaking ocean views. For lunch, Baylee and Tom shared pasta, Lady and the Tramp style, followed by limoncello gelato. Every moment felt like it was straight out of a movie.
Then came the scooter. With the sparkling ocean as their backdrop, we captured the joy and freedom of two people wildly in love, living their dream.
The highlight of the day was the sunset boat cruise. The water glistened like it was dusted with magic, and the pastel buildings of Positano painted the perfect backdrop. Our captain took us to hidden spots, including a “forbidden” archway, where we all screamed with excitement.
As the boat slowed, Baylee and Tom exchanged vows. Their words were raw and beautiful, filled with laughter and tears. The boat captain honked the horn in celebration as Baylee screamed, “We’re married!” Champagne was popped, and Prosecco flowed as we toasted to their forever.
As the sun set and the city lights twinkled, we ran along the beach, soaking in the magic of the moment. Dinner was at an iconic Positano spot, where we cried again—this time over shared stories, life’s hardships, and the deep bond we’d formed. Tom folded a napkin into an origami heart, a gesture he’d done for Baylee since they started dating. It was the sweetest ending to a perfect day.
This elopement wasn’t just a dream come true for Baylee and Tom; it was a dream come true for us. Standing there, in one of the most beautiful places in the world, I realized I had achieved a goal I set five years ago.
Photography and videography aren’t just about pretty pictures; they’re about immortalizing moments that remind us how precious life is. Baylee and Tom, thank you for letting us be part of your incredible love story. You’ve given us memories we’ll treasure forever.
So, take the trip. Plan the elopement. Feel it all. Life is too short not to.
