Everything else is just the icing on the cake. Recently, I shot an elopement with Cactus and Pine, set within the stunning backdrop of a glacier. The experience was nothing short of magical and I am dying to go back!
We wanted to share some insights and tips for planning your own adventure elopement, whether you’re dreaming of glaciers, mountains, deserts and beyond!
Keep it simple, but make it YOU
The beauty of elopements lies in the simplicity, and in the setting. All you really need is the two of you. Everything else—from flowers to vow books to invitation suites—is an added bonus that can make your day feel more personal and special. The couple in our shoot brought along a stunning bouquet by Honey Bloom Floral Design and a beautiful vow book by Copper Cloud Creative, adding a touch of tradition to their intimate ceremony. These small details can create lasting memories and beautiful photographs without overwhelming the experience.
Choose an EPIC location!
One of the most exciting parts of an adventure elopement is choosing a location that speaks to your sense of wonder. For this shoot, we chose a glacier, a location that was not only visually stunning but also provided a sense of adventure and exploration. Whether it’s a glacier, a mountain peak, a beach or a desert, pick a spot that feels like an adventure and a reflection of your love story. The dramatic scenery will not only make your photos look incredible but will also create a memorable experience you’ll cherish forever.
Plan the logistics
Adventure elopements often involve some level of planning, especially when it comes to logistics. For our glacier shoot, we booked a tour through Matanuska Glacier Tours. We drove to their offices, and from there, they took us out to the glacier with a tour guide. Having a local guide was a game changer—they ensured our safety, navigated the treck, and even shared insights about the area, adding to the experience. When planning your elopement, consider enlisting the help of local experts who can help you make the most of your chosen location while ensuring everything runs smoothly.
