Catching the bouquet and garter at a wedding is good luck, especially if you’re hoping to marry the love of your life the following year! Sofia and Jarred both attended a wedding I photographed in New Mexico back in 2021, where Sofia caught the bouquet and Jared caught the garter. It was meant to be! These two are the definition of soulmates… more on that later. After catching the bouquet and garter I passed Sofia and Jarred my card (just in case), and sure enough, a few months later they were engaged and hired us for their own New Mexico wedding! Can you believe it? I am SO glad they did, because I immediately vibed with Sofia and was honored that she wanted us to capture the next chapter of their love story.
I don’t think you all are ready for how sweet Sofia and Jarred’s love story is. These two have chemistry, literally! That’s how they met! 10 years ago they met at school where they were in the same chemistry class. They are true high school sweethearts (obsessed) and have been navigating life from their teens to early adulthood years together.
When Sofia first reached out to us, she couldn’t stop gushing about their two dogs: Zulu the German Shepherd, and Winston the Chihuahua. I can’t blame her — they are ADORABLE. Sofia and Jarred’s free time is spent embracing all the little things in life and spending quality time together. They are both romantics at heart and love soaking up the warm summer nights by cruising late at night in “Old Betsy,” their 1967 Ford Mustang.
Sofia and Jarred love sharing laughs, which often fill their home when they’re hosting friends. On the weekends, Jarred is often smoking meat and Sofia is baking for their friends and family. It’s amazing that they spend so much quality time together, even after 10 years! They are true soulmates and I am so happy that their wedding day turned out as perfectly as it did.
New Mexico is one of our all time favorite states to visit. Having been born and raised in Albuquerque, it will always be home and forever holds a special place in my heart! I am obsessed with the overall vibes, colors, and culture that makes it so unique. Sofia and Jarred selected Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo for their New Mexico wedding venue and I LOVED it. This venue really stayed true to the Southwest feel, the ambiance set the perfect tone for their wedding.
The second reason I fell in love with this venue was because of the view. I actually gasped when I saw the mountain range and the clouds hanging low over them. I knew our moody bridal portrait dreams were gonna come true! Thanks to the endless backdrops and settings, we were able to capture what it felt like to be there and highlighted the beautiful elements of New Mexico in their wedding photos.
I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what my favorite part of Sofia and Jarred’s New Mexico wedding was but… it was literally everything! Their wedding day was super emotional and filled with so many special moments. It was raining on and off all day, but during their ceremony and bridals things held off and allowed us to capture some epic photos!
One of the most special memories was when Jarred saw Sofia walking down the aisle toward him, I seriously will never get tired of these moments. Jarred got emotional and I started tearing up a bit too! These lovebirds have been together for so long and are taking the next step in their love story, ugh, I love it!! Sofia and Jarred shared the most heartfelt vows (waterworks were fully flowing at this point) and included their faith in their wedding ceremony. It was so beautiful and I loved experiencing it with them!
After their sweet ceremony, Sofia and Jarred were ready to dance the night away! They hired a Mariachi band and choreographed their first dance. It was such a fun way to kick off their reception and had guests amped up for the dance floor. To wrap up their perfect wedding day, Sofia and Jarred’s friends and family sent them off with a bubble exit. It was such a fun and playful send off — more of these, please!!
This gorgeous New Mexico wedding was incredibly special and I am so excited to share a little bit of Sofia and Jarred’s love with you.
