Classic studio bridal sessions may just be the key to my heart! I seriously LOVE it. Don’t get me wrong, nothing fulfills my wanderlust the way capturing an adventure elopement does, but the creative challenge that comes with shooting in a studio is what keeps me coming back for more. There is something so simple and comfortable about shoots like these, and by joining forces with Emma Kay Photography we were able to bring this timeless studio bridal session to life.
This shoot at Afternoons Studio in Phoenix was a dream, and we were so lucky to have the PERFECT couple modeling for us. Emi and Aaron fit the vibe we were going for so well, I think we were all a match made in heaven! Emi and Aaron have such natural charisma and love for one another, which translated beautifully on camera. Let’s get into it, shall we?
These two are so perfect together, which made our job effortless!! Whenever I have a couple in front of the camera who is deeply in love, I know it’s going to be a good day. These two were so willing to follow each creative pose we came up with, and they crushed it! I adore the way they made this shoot their own.
Emi and Aaron are both super photogenic, but not just because they are a gorgeous couple. Beauty comes from within, and when a couple can be in the moment, tune in with one another, and lean into the space, the result is stunning! I mean, organic smiles, love-struck eyes, and natural chemistry…. that’s what separates a good bridal session from a great one.
I know you may be thinking: “I’m not photogenic,” “I’m so awkward in front of the camera,” I’ve heard it all! But trust me. You are BEAUTIFUL in so many ways. Our goal is to capture your natural beauty and help you feel confident. We also aim to capture you and your partner in your happiest moments. Take Emi and Aaron for example, they leaned on one another through the entire shoot and fed off of each other’s energy. We had such a fun time during this classic bridal session, and got some amazing photos as a result!
I just have to say, this classic white and black theme was everything!! The pearls, the black suit, the gloves… I was absolutely obsessed with the entire look. When Emma shared her concept for this shoot with me I fell in love immediately and knew we were going to create something incredible. You can NEVER go wrong with a timeless style and pearls, but the way we gave this classic look a modern flare is what I love the most.
The basics of this classic bridal session were modern and chic — black and white colors, elegant outfits, and artistically influenced portraits. However, the details of this shoot were laced with a touch of vintage flair. Emi wore mesh gloves with pearl details that complemented the pearls in her slick Hollywood waves. Her dress was simple but dressed up with the most romantic cathedral veil. Aaron’s look was equally timeless. A black suit, skinny black tie, and white dress shirt will ALWAYS look great in my book.
When you think of studio portraits you probably think about your childhood Christmas photos with the fam at J.C. Penney. But my friends, we have GRADUATED. And trust me, you’re going to want to schedule a studio session like this one ASAP!
Working in a studio has many perks. You can manipulate the lighting however you want (no need to worry about harsh light from the sun) and you also can control the climate. That’s right, we’re not getting rained on or sweating to death in here!! In a studio, you also have access to things like bathrooms and changing areas. We also love that it’s private, so you can blast music as loud as you want, and overall just make the space feel like your own.
Another bonus to studio sessions is getting to work with a variety of props and backdrops. For this shoot, we had a simple white backdrop (perfect for the timeless vibe we wanted) but to spice things up we incorporated a lot of fun items the studio had, like a disco ball! Playing around with props gave us the creative vibe we were going for, and it was so much fun adding different elements to make this shoot feel personal and unique.
Shooting this classic studio bridal session was a vision come true, and I can’t wait to do another! If you’re wanting to go the studio route for your bridals, reach out to us and let’s get creative!
