We love our clients, and every once in a while that love leads to an amazing friendship! The truth is, Steven knew Shannon for a long time prior to her wedding but Shannon and Taylor’s engagement session was the first time I had met them. We immediately clicked! Fast forward and now we are reliving their wedding day. I spent the majority of the time crying with them out of pure joy!! Shannon and Taylor feel like family to us now, we were just so happy for them and wanted every moment of their adventure elopement to be perfect.
This was one EPIC elopement!! It was a two-day extravaganza full of amazing views, delicious food, and lots of happy tears. Shannon and Taylor were intentional about every single detail. They did their wedding the way they wanted to and poured their heart into each element. One thing we found incredibly thoughtful was they treated us and their other vendors as though we were guests not just vendors! We were given red bulls, our favorite snacks, and local coffee beans! Don’t tell them but they have no choice… they’re stuck with us forever now!
Shannon had a beautiful clutch custom made from her mom’s wedding dress. She also had Taylor’s ring engraved with words that were meaningful to them… cue the tears!! Shannon and Taylor have two adorable dogs who mean the world to them so of course they were featured in their ceremony! They held their stunning ceremony at Heybrook Lookout. From the stories they told us, it sounded like Heybrook Lookout was one of the first hike routes they took together as a couple, so it was so important to both of them!
I don’t think there could have been a more beautiful day for Shannon and Taylor to get married. Everything about their adventurous elopement fell perfectly into place. The gorgeous mountains were covered by a soft haze that made the environment feel incredible and romantic. The sun was shining down on their ceremony site perfectly and all of their close friends and family came to celebrate! Shannon wore a beautiful gown with an amazing long train and veil and her bridesmaids looked stunning in multi-colored dresses. Something I thought was so cool and unique is that Shannon’s bridesmaids held bridal rings, not traditional bouquets! It felt symbolic of Shannon and Taylor’s undying love for one another and was such a fun twist on tradition!
This bridal party seriously was so much fun and to see them all come together for Shannon and Taylor was amazing. They all clearly love this couple so much and just wanted them to have the best day ever. To end their amazing and fun ceremony day, Shannon and Taylor made a pit-stop at Zeke’s Drive-in for burgers and fries and it was such a blast, it felt like we were in some early 90’s rom-com!
It was gorgeous and the definition of Shannon and Taylor!! they had a taco truck, a cake made by their siblings, and toasts that made me bawl my eyes out, haha! We were invited into their home to get some behind-the-scenes shots of all the love that was going into bringing their reception to life. Seeing their siblings decorate the wedding cake was so sweet, they did such an impressive job and were so focused on making sure they nailed each detail! Their dogs stood guard to make sure everyone was having a good time (and also probably trying to sneak a bite from the taco truck)! Seeing their yard being transformed from a gorgeous escape to a luxurious reception was so much fun. They had all the personal touches you could imagine, from photos to personalized gifts.
Guests sat at picnic-style tables that had been dressed up with greenery garlands and touches of white flowers while Shannon and Taylor were lounging on a dreamy leather loveseat with a neon sign that read “The Starks” above them. From day into night, this reception was full of laughs and smiles. It all felt relaxed and fun and perfect for Shannon and Taylor!! Guests dined on delicious tacos, played yard games, cried happy tears, and then ended the party with a couple of keg stands! It was a night — and weekend — that Shannon and Taylor will never forget, and one that we won’t forget either. We truly love these two so much and being a part of their big day meant the world!!
Shannon and Taylor’s epic two-day adventure elopement is the perfect example of how you can have an amazing wedding without going all-out. If a huge party just isn’t your thing then call up your favorite people, trek out to your favorite location, and have the time of your life. And if you want us to be there to capture it all we would be beyond happy to do so — just reach out and let’s start planning!
