As a photographer, I have visions in my head of the perfect photoshoot. When the lighting hits just right, the model’s chemistry is unreal and each element seems to fall perfectly in place! We aim for each shoot to be this way but sometimes there is a diamond among a field of gems. For me, the Salt Flats in Utah has been a bucket list shoot location for soooo long!! I knew that when the day came and we finally held a shoot there, it would be ethereal. I am beyond excited to share this Salt Flats bridal session with you all because this out-of-this-world location absolutely lived up to my wildest dreams!
I’ve had the opportunity to visit a ton of gorgeous locations and venues for weddings, bridal sessions, and more and I can honestly say that when it comes to the best photoshoot spots, the Salt Flats easily lands in my top 10. The white salt reflects light beautifully, especially during golden hour and sunset, and gives off this dream-like essence that is so surreal!!
Aside from the drop-dead gorgeous location, this styled shoot was just so much fun! I don’t think we could have had a better day, couple, or attendees. From the start of the shoot, I could tell this was going to be a good one. Our models absolutely killed it, they were so fun and willing to do it all! their chemistry was instantly obvious and as a result, we received some stunning shots. Our bride was dressed in the perfect gown. This dreamy dress was flowy and had a ton of texture, making her look like an absolute angel! Not to mention, the epic photos we got when she threw her skirt delicately into the air totally stole my heart. The way she was so willing to dance along the salt flats throughout the day resulted in effortless elegance and when that golden hour sun hit… ahhh perfection!!!
We also have to give a special shout-out to our handsome groom! His look was so cohesive, dressed head to toe in a slick black suit paired with a black bowtie. Something I loved is just how he popped against the entire setting. The contrast between his moody vibe and the brightness of the white sand was gorgeous and really grabbed your attention!!
Now, I want to take a moment to pay special attention to the florals because wow the arrangements were sooo good!! Lily and Juniper Blooms absolutely nailed this color scheme and design for us. We wanted to keep the overall vision of this salt flats bridal session simple since the setting really does speak for itself, so we kept things sleek and modern. We brought in a thin circular arch and had the floral added on in an asymmetric placement. With gorgeous reds and oranges, the florals were warm and really popped against the white salt backdrop! The whole setup was a vision. It all felt natural and was the perfect setting to frame our lovely couple in!!
The bouquet Lily and Juniper Blooms made for our bride was equally as beautiful as the arch! The organic and almost triangular shape of the bouquet felt free and whimsical. It was tied with a long flowing silk ribbon that matched our bride’s dress perfectly. By using some fall-colored foliage, hanging amaranthus, and other beautiful blooms this bouquet was a stunner!! It didn’t overpower our bride or take away from the beautiful dress she wore, instead, it really polished her look. Our groom sported a simple boutonniere that complimented our bride’s bouquet but it wasn’t extremely large or overpowering. We love when a boutonniere adds a little bit of pizazz and feels natural!
As I mentioned, the way the salt reflects the light is UNREAL. During golden hour is when this vision really came to life! The sun crept through behind the haze and shined right through the ceremony arch to illuminate our couple! Can you believe the perfection?! Our bride’s dress reflected the light beautifully and everything about this moment was exactly how I pictured. The sunlight deepened the orange and red tones of the flowers and softened the salt. It was pure magic and we just want to be back in this moment all over again!!
The Salt Flats are seriously a dream come true! If I could shoot there every single day I absolutely would. the almost blank slate creates the perfect setting for any kind of style and provides endless options. wow. What a memorable experience this was!!
