This. Session. Oh my gosh. It was so special. And, I know I say that about every session… but it’s always true because each is special in its own way. But, today’s session was something super close to home because I’ve known the couple, Lily and Josh, for years! Lily and I became close friends and bonded instantly when we both moved to AZ. We went through a lot of exciting seasons of life together from getting engaged to getting married within the same year of each other. We even were in each other’s weddings! Now, here we are four years later for their beautiful in home couples session.
They aren’t able to have biological children so they’ve chosen to adopt! When they told me they will be using these photos to present to birth mothers in hopes of becoming parents *cries* I was so honored!!
They invited me into their home with their sweet and adorable Goldendoodle, Oliver, where I captured them in their element — enjoying the little things together like making coffee and snuggling on the couch. They really wanted to capture their relationship, personality, home, and social life all in a series of photos. I think we got it!! Lily wore a sweet plaid dress that worked beautifully against the black accent wall in their living room and the deep burnt orange tone of their duvet cover. Josh complimented her outfit in a short-sleeved white button-up and black pants. The best part of all though was their smiles. corny as it is, they just were radiant!!
A quick fun fact for you, Lily and Josh had actually just finished fully remodeling their home! They made every inch of their house perfect for them and it definitely fit them so well. It was so much fun to watch the love they poured into their home as they brought it to life, and I just know they’ll pour even more of that love into their future baby!
It’s become “their spot” so of course, we had to go there! Lily and Josh ordered some coffee and we explored different areas of Liberty Market to get the best photos. From outside of the restaurant to inside at various tables and the bar, it felt like we were spying on one of their dates!
We ended with some portraits at golden hour among some tall cacti and eventually called it a day. It may still be early but I can just picture it now, Lily and Josh holding their sweet baby on the gorgeous couch they have… I will just be itching to capture those photos when the time comes!!
There are so many reasons why I love in home couple sessions so much. Lily and Josh are a great example of how much you can capture in one session. They really just let their love for one another shine and I have loved being a part of their story in more ways than one! Lily and Josh, I cannot wait to see you two become the best parents in the world.
